HISTORY

The company was established in 1985 by Mr. K.S.Sarma a technocrat of repute and a respected entrepreneur in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. Mr. K. S. Sarma a Chemical Engineer after working for three decades in the Indian chemical and pharmaceutical sector started the company as a small scale unit. He guided the company for nearly two decades and established its name and capability in the international market. Since his demise in 2004 the company is led by his son Mr. Venkat Ramana Kalavakolanu who is a graduate in life sciences and also holds masters in business administration.

1985 Incorporated as a private limited company 1987 Started commercial production of APIs 1992 Backward integration for developing the key raw material 1995 The company went public 1997 Set up a new manufacturing facility for specialty chemicals & Intermediates 1998 Commercialized the first indigenously developed peptide raw material 2000 Floated a 100% subsidiary Sven Genetech limited to focus on Peptide chemistry, Chiral chemistry & Biotechnology 2004 Commercialised processes for solution phase peptide synthesis 2005 Commercialised processes for solid phase synthesis and production of unnatural amino acids 2006 Acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad 2007 Strategic Alliance with Ranbaxy for Peptide API’s and formulations 2008 Acquistion of a manufacturing facility in Switzerland
